* Kitten Heel Solid Style for SS17
A huge benefit of my job is getting to see trends before they hit the market. A big trend this season is the Kitten Heel being a focus for many major brands for S/S 2017 like Gucci, Balenciaga, Vetements, Prada, and Dior.
The Kitten Heel is a sweet silhouette that originated in the 1950s. It was primarily popular among young woman at the time and thought of as “trainer heels.” Nowadays, the kitten heel is desired by women of all ages. The re-adapted versions by these talented designers have proven that this style can stand the test of time.
I grabbed a pair of kitten heels by The Row yesterday. This version features a tie over the instep rather than a sling back. I gave this style a try, and I still prefer the sling back style over an open back. It helps the shoe feel like less a mule. Sometimes the kitten silhouette can be harder to wear due to the the height of the heel and a sling back just helps give a little more control in the heel and keeps the sole from sliding out from under your foot while walking. I just find the sling back to be overall more comfortable.
I have no doubt you will see this silhouette develop into an Instagram favorite! If you haven’t tried the style before, give it a chance now. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with how easy it is to style. Rock it with jeans, dresses and much more!
